Massachusetts: Getting a hearing test & buying hearing aids

The home of the American Revolution, Massachusetts has a case for America’s most storied state. But how does it fare when it comes to audiology?

How many test centers are in Massachusetts?

As a northeastern state, Massachusetts is naturally smaller than most US states. Despite this, the population falls just shy of 7 million, which makes it one of the more populous states.

Even though Boston comes out with the lowest number of hearing centers per 100,000 of the population at 8.6, it’s not the end of the world. Boston is nearby other areas with very high ratios – such as Cambridge at 47 – so you’ll be able to get to an audiologist without much fuss.

Overall

For its size, Massachusetts is a fine example of a state with good audiological care. There are hundreds of audiologists, great government coverage, and lots of tasty lobsters. Eating lobster doesn’t have any positive effect on the ears that we know of, but it can’t hurt to try!
